With all of the hype surrounding e-cigarettes, it’s important for consumers to get the facts. Most people want to know if they’re safe to use, and others have questions about all of the controversy regarding exploding e-cigs.
What most people don’t know is that the first electronic cigarette was actually invented in the 1960s. However, it wasn’t until about 10 years ago that the electric cigarette started to become very popular.
Currently, consumers who’re looking to purchase flavored nicotine have over 250 choices to choose from. A few of the top flavors are Java, bubble gum and watermelon.
Despite the fact that e-cigs have been popular for several years, there are still many mysteries surrounding them. There are at least five facts that every consumer should know about e-cigs.
E-cigs Are Tobacco Products That Aren’t Regulated
A lot of people are under the misconception that e-cigs aren’t tobacco products. The reality is that they’re nothing more than unregulated tobacco products.
Currently, the market is filled with over 500 different brands, and consumers have over 7,700 different flavors to choose from. The problem is that virtually all of these products have not been evaluated by the FDA.
Since the products aren’t evaluated, it’s nearly impossible to know exactly what’s in them. The companies that make e-cigs aren’t legally required to disclose what’s inside of their products.
E-Cigarettes Contain Less Nicotine than Tobacco Products
In a recent study, it was discovered that vapor from a typical e-cig contained less nicotine than the smoke from a tobacco cigarette. The amount of nicotine found in smoke from regular tobacco cigarettes can be up to 10 times greater than what is in the vapor from an electric cigarette.
The same study, which was published in the Oxford Journals, found that the vapor from e-cigs doesn’t contain anywhere near as many toxic compounds as smoke from traditional tobacco cigarettes.
Vaping is a new Term
Before electronic cigarettes became popular, the term vaping didn’t exist. The term was created as a way to describe the act of smoking an electric cigarette. Vaping is used to describe the action because a person using an e-cig isn’t actually smoking.
There Are Endless Flavors to Choose From
When e-cigarettes were first released, there weren’t many flavors to choose from. Today, there are thousands of different flavors, and there are so many that most people will never be able to try them all. There are also nearly as many different styles of e-cigs as there are flavors.
Millions Use Electric Cigarettes
Today, it’s estimated that nearly 4 million Americans regularly use electronic cigarettes. According to statistics from the CDC, one out of every five American adults has tried e-cigarettes. These are five basic facts that everyone should know about electronic cigarettes.
